Worldfund trains and supports public school principals in Mexico currently serving in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. Through a combination of workshops and coaching, LISTO promotes a profound shift in school culture based on a shared belief of mutual responsibility for student success. Our goal is to foster leaders who create effective learning environments that include teachers, parents, and the community in improving student learning outcomes.
The LISTO program is a three-year (308-hour) intensive course of study for 50 principals at a time. It is structured in three stages:
Stage One: A five-day summer induction course focused on team building and leadership.
Stage Two: A series of nine workshops over the school year that provides training in strategic planning, best practices in school management, and transformative leadership.
Stage Three: Worldfund Coaches support the principals as they bridge theory and practice, evaluate their progress, and implement strategic plans.
Principals also attend optional workshops and communicate with coaches and one another through an online platform.
Changing mindsets and practices of school principals.
Impacting over 195,000 students in Mexico annually.
Since LISTO was launched in 2009, Worldfund has brought the program to 1,787 principals in ten states: San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Campeche, Estado de Mexico, Guerrero, Veracruz, Nuevo Leon, Chiapas, Hidalgo, Puebla and Tlaxcala. These 1,787 principals are affecting change that impacts over 195,000 students annually.
Worldfund has contracted the independent firm Valora since 2009 to conduct comprehensive pre- and post- program studies with teachers, parents and students. Evaluations revealed that the training clearly helps principals lead schools more effectively when it provides practical skills and follow-up coaching. In 2012 Valora began a second evaluation of the program to measure key indicators of success such as student-focused teaching practices and collaborative planning.
