WORLDFUND'S 2017 ANNUAL EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AWARD DINNER

Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Dear Friends of Worldfund,

Over the last 15 years, Worldfund has become an influential international network of committed global citizens who believe in the power of education.

On Thursday, June 8th, we were proud to share our accomplishments at the 2017 Education Leadership Award Dinner: 8,000 educators and nearly 4.4 million students impacted by our three programs: IAPE, LISTO and STEM.

Improving the quality of education in Latin America is not an individual task. Our gratitude for those who have been so important in supporting our programs was symbolized by honoring two outstanding individuals for their remarkable contributions to education in their countries:

Agustín Coppel Luken makes education a priority in his leadership at Grupo Coppel in Mexico.

Fábio Colletti Barbosa seeks to bring educational values to the forefront of the Brazilian national discussion.

Worldfund is thankful for the 350 friends in the room who joined us in applauding our honorees. We invite you to continue sharing your enthusiasm for Worldfund. It takes all of us to keep inspiring teachers to create the leaders of tomorrow.

Worldfund's 2017 Annual Education Leadership Award Dinner

In the Press

NEW YORK, NY, June 9th , 2017 – Worldfund, a non-profit organization that expands education opportunities in Latin America, celebrated its annual Education Leadership Award Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York on June 8. At the gala each year, the Education Leadership Award is presented to a corporation or individual who has exemplified excellence in furthering Worldfund’s education goals in Latin America. This year’s gala recognized Agustín Coppel Luken, Chairman and CEO of Grupo Coppel, and Fábio Colletti Barbosa, Vice President of Fundação Itaú Social.

“Fundação Itaú Social understands the unfortunate reality that education is not a basic right for every child in Brazil,” Fábio Colletti Barbosa said. “I am pleased to accept this award as a symbol of the foundation’s commitment to the continuation of our work with organizations like Worldfund. We will continue our work together to transform lives through education and advance sustainable development in Brazil.”

Worldfund was especially excited to celebrate, at this year's gala, reaching 4.4 million students with its education programs.

"Worldfund came to my attention because of its approach to education,” Agustín Coppel Luken said. “The reflective vision of Luanne Zurlo sees past traditional education and aims to build the character and skills our children will need in an ever-changing world.”

News of Worldfund's 2017 annual event reached several news outlets. Read more about the evening below:
