| Six years ago, a concerned woman founded Worldfund to improve the quality of education in Latin America in order to break the cycle of poverty. | ![]() |
On a business trip to Mexico City several years ago, I experienced first-hand the generally poor quality of education received by Latin American youth. After visiting a school in Mexico City, I left with the conviction that something must, and more importantly, could be done to improve these conditions.
That’s why, in 2002, I left my nine-year career on Wall Street and started Worldfund—to improve the lives of the less fortunate students of Latin America.
At Worldfund, our goal is to minimize the education gap in Latin America by investing in high-quality and outcome-driven schools and education programs that serve impoverished children. A high-quality education is the best gift a child can receive, and we strongly believe that more can be done to bring meaningful education programs to children throughout the region.
Today, thanks to our dedicated supporters and benefactors, as well as our incredibly dedicated staff and board of directors, we’ve already provided over US$7.2 million in funding to schools, after-school academic programs and teacher/principal training, directly impacting 86,000 students in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and Venezuela.
Our goal is to reach 250,000 students annually by 2015, by investing in proven schools and programs that are dedicated to serving Latin America’s children in need. We know it can be done, and we appreciate your support of this truly important effort.
